Applied Computing Foundation (ACF) Launches Plans For An International #Hackathon

ACF is thrilled to launch our Second international hackathon in April 2021 to develop a Family Fitness App (“Exercising Minds & Bodies”).
As a result of COVID-19, families suffered from a lack of physical exercise due to the quarantine lifestyle.
The lack of adequate physical activities can cause mental illness, let alone poor health issues like obesity.

ACF believes in applied computing while recognizing that poor health poses as a real threat for families across the world.
That’s why we want to encourage the international community to apply their technical skills to build a creative family fitness app during our second international hackathon in April 2021.
The end result will produce a project where families can use these innovative solutions after the hackathon to tackle this issue in their community.

Here’s your chance to make an impact on healthy lifestyles and enhance your coding skills!
Interested?
Here's how it works.

Assemble

a two to a five-person team where every team member will apply for our hackathon!

Discuss

with your team what issues or obstacles you have faced while trying to stay healthy during the pandemic.

From here,

brainstorm

a creative solution specific to the family’s fitness needs. Be authentic.

Build

out the team’s solution through the duration of the hackathon. Coders must write the scripts and programs during the hackathon, but graphics, mockups, and presentation materials can be prepared beforehand.

Present

your project at the end of the family fitness hackathon in a video demonstration (for a chance to win prizes!). We encourage teams to continue building out their projects after the hackathon's duration to have a meaningful and sustaining impact on the family they want to support!
